Golfers Tackle the Greens
Annual tournament bring golfers and celebrities to the course
For Immediate Release: February 14, 2008
It’s time to practice your swing for the third annual Coca-Cola/GMAC Celebrity Golf Classic. Golfers can tee off in support of Special Olympics Texas on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. on three of the finest golf courses in the area at Kingwood Country Club. Houston legends, NFL Hall of Famers Bruce Matthews and Mike Munchak, joined by ABC 13 Sports Director Bob Allen, will serve as celebrity chairs of the tournament. Special Olympics Texas athletes will be on the course to putt for each team.
The Coca-Cola/GMAC Celebrity Golf Classic will involve area golfers and sports/media personalities in a five-man scramble format (four-person teams, with the opportunity to play with a sports/media celebrity). Each player and a guest are invited to attend a Celebrity Pairings Dinner and Auction on Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hilton Houston Westchase. This evening will offer golfers the chance to add a celebrity to their team by making a “Celebrity Draft Bid” (donation) and listing their six draft picks.
Entry fees are $250 per player and $1,000 per foursome. Sponsorships opportunities are available. To register or for more information, call the Special Olympics Texas – Greater Houston Area office at 713.290.0049.
