Outreach Volunteer of the YearSpecial Olympics Texas awards Sarah and Everett Castellano for their dedication For Immediate Release: September 23, 2008 RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Special Olympics Texas has selected Sarah and Everett Castellano from the Rio Grande Valley area as the 2008 Outreach Volunteer Award winners. The Castellanos have been involved with Special Olympics Texas for 15 years and have two children and have always included them in their volunteer work. Giving 100 hours of time this year, the Castellanos lend a helping hand at all area events and travel to volunteer for state events as well. A peer of the Castellanos describes them as representing the ideals of team contribution, school and community involvement and continuous dedication for Special Olympics Texas. The Outreach Volunteer Award is for the people, group or organization whose volunteer service has expanded the opportunities for people with intellectual disabilites to become involved in the Special Olympics Texas program. On October 24, Sarah and Everett Castellano will be given their award and recognized for their achievements at Opening Ceremonies for the 2008 Fall Classic in College Station.
