Law Enforcement Serves Up Support
For Immediate Release: May 30, 2008
Law Enforcement Torch Run officers will trade in the badge for an apron and serve the public in a whole new way on June 12. Officers will take on the role of "celebrity waiters", serving patrons and collecting tips for Special Olympics Texas from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse, located at 8575 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur. The restaurant makes up one of more than 35 Texas Roadhouse restaurants participating statewide. Dine out and make a difference; tips will help thousands of Texas athletes!
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.
