Law Enforcement Serves Up Support
For Immediate Release: May 29, 2008 Law enforcement officers want to serve you and help raise money for Special Olympics Texas athletes. On Thursday, June 12, Law Enforcement Torch Run Officers will take over more than 35 Texas Roadhouse restaurants across the state, including in Corpus Christi, to collect tips for Special Olympics Texas athletes. Law enforcement officers will be at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant at 2029 South Padre Island Drive, serving dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Officers participating in Tip A Cop events will serve as "celebrity waiters", serving customers and collecting tips for Special Olympics Texas. Tip A Cop is one way in which law enforcement has been able to successfully raise funds for the 27,610 children and adults in Texas with intellectual disabilities. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. Andi Baca Kelly |
