For Immediate Release: November 12, 2007
The Hilton Anatole Hotel was bustling with DFW’s finest at the Special Olympics Texas “The Power of the Dream” Black Tie Gala, presented by the T. Boone Pickens Foundation, on November 10, 2007. The evening highlighted several big names including Congressman and Mrs. Pete Sessions - Honorary Event Chairs, CBS Sports’ David Feherty - Master of Ceremonies, and ten honored SOTX athletes.
“One of my proudest moments as the father of a person with Down Syndrome is watching the determination and winning spirit he embraces as he competes in Special Olympics,” said Congressman Pete Sessions. “His gold medal victory etched memories of achievement and happiness that will last a lifetime.”
The “Power of the Dream” was an exciting and inspirational evening, beginning with a special VIP reception, social hour and silent auction, and followed by dinner, program and live auction. During the program, the annual "Our Heroes" award and the prestigious “Flame of Hope” award were presented to American Eurocopter and local resident Jim Albright for their dedication to the movement. Guests wrapped up the evening by hitting the dance floor to the tunes of the Signature Band, playing until midnight.
