Friday, 6 January

Statewide Torch Run Committee Meeting

10 a.m. – Noon

Conference Registration

1:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Special Olympics Texas Staff will greet you at the registration desk in the foyer of the hotel. Receive all the information you need for a successful conference experience.

Hospitality Reception

6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Join us for a great opportunity to renew acquaintances across the state and have a relaxing time before the Hall of Fame Dinner & Banquet. Cash Bar.

Opening Ceremonies & Hall of Fame Dinner

7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Please join the honorable Greg Abbott, Texas Attorney General and Chief J.R. Fawcett of Farmers Branch PD celebrate the kick off of the conference with an elegant dinner and presentation of the 2006 LETR Texas Hall of Fame Award. The Hall of Fame recognizes volunteers who have demonstrated a sustained and significant contribution to the Texas Torch Run and Special Olympics Texas on the area, region and state levels. The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award given to members of the Torch Run community. Attire for the banquet is business dress.

Saturday, 7 January

General Session
8:30 a.m. -- 9:45 a.m.

The entire Torch Run body will come together for discussion on important issues regarding 2006 Summer Games (Arlington), Risk Management (Insurance) and mandatory forms.

Break
9:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Events Overview & Presentation
10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Torch Run volunteers and SOTX staff will present on general event coordination and certain

Torch Run events. This session will give volunteers a chance to see what fundraising events work in other areas and the opportunity to ask questions about events they want to know more about. It will also provide the opportunity for volunteers to present idea they are considering to the group for feedback.

Awards Luncheon
11:45 a.m. -- 1:15 p.m.

Join us in recognizing the fundraising achievements of participating law enforcement agencies and TDCJ units around the state of Texas. Awards will be presented to the top three agencies and top three units in each size class. Torch Run sponsors will also be acknowledged at that time.

Recruitment
1:30 a.m. -- 2:15 p.m.

Texas Torch Run is currently ranked 6th in the world. The only way to grow the Texas program back to #1 is to recruit more volunteers, agencies, units and affiliate associations. This session will give the attendees a chance to brainstorm and share ideas on how to get more volunteers and agencies on board. How to approach from an agency versus TDCJ unit perspective will alsobe covered.

Regional Breakouts
2:30 p.m. -- 3:30 p.m.

What does 2006 hold for your region? This regional breakout session will enable you to interact directly with your regional representative and other volunteers of your region. In this session, the regional representative will go over 2005 highlights and 2006 budget objectives. The breakouts will also serve as a time for strategizing and goal setting for the upcoming year.

Q & A Session – Regional Breakout
3:30 p.m. — 3:45 p.m.

The entire Torch Run body will come back together after the Regional Breakouts to announce their budget and operational goals for 2006. This will also serve as an informal Q & A session regarding general Torch Run issues.
