Polar Plunge

Date: December 10, 2011
Area: Area 17 - South Plains

Brrrrring your game face and prepare to "bear" the cold in support of Special Olympics Texas athletes!  Special Olympics Texas challenges you to take the plunge, or slip and slide, into the icy waters of the Ashmore Inn for the 2011 Polar Bear Plunge on December 10, 2011. This event is a unique opportunity to enjoy an exhilarating experience and raise funds for our South Plains Area Special Olympics Texas athletes.

To crawl, jump or run into the icy water, you must raise a MINIMUM of $50. T-shirts are given to all participants. Incentive items are awarded to those who go above and beyond the registration fee. Grand prizes will be given to the highest individual and team fundraisers. Also, don your best wacky wardrobe for the costume contest. In 2010, we saw the likes of Pirates, Batman and Robin, and even the more creative of Shake and Bake!  Everyone has a chance to win the coveted Golden Plunger. Your only restriction is no wet suits - so, on your mark, get set, go!

If you're too chicken to take the plunge, we've got a great vantage point for viewing!  Join us at the chicken coop and support those that are 'bearing' the cold.

Lunch will be provided following the plungers' dive into the icy wave pool.

You'll be freezin' for a reason!

Start: 10:00 a.m.
End: 2:00 p.m.
