Unified Sports Training

Date: January 28, 2012
Area: Area 10 - Greater Dallas

All people interested in becoming a certified Unified Sports Coach are welcome to attend the Unified Sports training on Saturday, January 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Region 10 Service Center-Spring Valley Location in the Houston Room located on the 2nd floor.

Please pre-register with Cyndi Murchison by calling/emailing the Special Olympics Texas - Greater Dallas area office at 214.943.9981 x28 or email cmurchison@sotx.org.

Reminder: In order to qualify for this training, a potential Unified Sports coach must have coached traditional sports for at least two years. However, in 2010, the Sports Management Team voted to eliminate the two-year rule for five sports: bocce, bowling, golf, tennis and flag football, in an effort to increase coach and athlete participation in Unified Sports.

Brand-new coaches in individual sports and flag football can become certified in the sport and Unified Sports their first year. For team sports, a brand new coach can attend both a sport and a Unified Sports training.  Become certified in the sport.  Submit their unified practicum form once they complete the 2 yr wait.
