GRAZ, AUSTRIA – Texas’ lone Special Olympics World Games competitor Ian Rawn (Plano, Texas) placed 4th in the Figure Skating Competition on Thursday at Ice Stadium Graz-Liebenau. Rawn will officially be presented with his ribbon during Friday morning’s Awards Ceremony.

“Ian is so grateful for the experience and will return to the U.S. a different person – more poised, mature, wise and understanding, and with friendships around the globe,” said Cinde Rawn, Ian’s mother.

Through compulsory and free skate events in the Level 3 division for male figure skaters ages 22-34, Rawn earned six points, enough to edge Kazakhstan’s Medet Rassuliyev, who was tabbed with a fifth place score of 7.5.

Fellow American Allan Lohr (West Palm Beach, Fla.) earned bronze with a score of 4.5. Taking home the gold medal was Russia's Ruslan Talanov (1.5), while Great Britain’s Calum Titmus claimed silver (3).
