Toughen Up, Take the Challenge

Show off your strength this fall and sign up for the Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Fire Truck Pull on September 28 in Wichita Falls.  Hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), the challenge requires teams of 12 people to put their biceps to the test and work together to pull an actual 55,000 pound fire truck for up to 50 feet! 

The Fire Truck Pull is open to the public.  Opening Ceremonies is set for 11:00 a.m. at Midwestern State University, followed by the first pull at 11:15 a.m.  The event will wrap with an awards ceremony for the Fastest Team Pull and Top Fundraising Team around 12:00 p.m.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
