Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help make this year's Summer Games a very special event. Over 3,000 athletes, plus thousands of coaches and family members have been preparing year-round for this competition. To compete at state level athletes must be at least 12 years old. Their competition is as intense and emotional for them as it would be for any other athlete. Please remember that without the help of volunteers like you, Special Olympics Texas would only be a dream.

SOTX athletes will show off their skills as they compete in athletics (track and field), basketball, cycling, gymnastics, soccer and tennis, May 26-29 at the University of Texas at Arlington and at surrounding community venues.  The Summer Games equestrian competition will be held June 17-19 at the Brazos County Expo Center in Bryan.  All events are free and open to the public.

Volunteer Check-In
If you have pre-registered via the above links, you should report directly to the venue for which you have signed up. Please arrive on time and bring a photo ID with you to the check-in table.  You will fill out a short registration form when you arrive. This form simply requires your name, address, email, and signature. Once you are checked-in, you will receive a volunteer button and a nametag. The button is yours to keep. Your specific duties and assignments will also be given to you at this time. Any training needed will be provided at each event. If you have any questions or problems during the events, the staff or key volunteers at each venue will be more than willing to assist you.

Attire
Please dress for comfort and mobility, as well as keeping the weather in mind. Do not wear attire with vulgar or inappropriate print or pictures. No short shorts or flip flops are allowed during your volunteer shifts. Comfortable athletic shoes are a good idea as you will be on your feet most of the time. There will be no storage for purses or bags. A fanny pack is great for carrying keys, sunglasses and other personal items.
