We’ve got a big goal, but we know you’re strong enough to meet it!

Asking for donations is never easy and it can leave even the most outgoing person with trembling knees. Just remember... the #1 reason that people give is because you asked them! People give to people – not causes – and your passion and enthusiasm for SOTXSTRONG in support of Special Olympics Texas athletes will inspire contributions.

Quick Tips

  1. Create Your Fundraising Page: Go to the 'Be a part of the fundraiser' section of #SOTXSTRONGand create a Teamraiser. Pro Tip: our website works best in Firefox or Chrome. Please don’t use Internet Explorer when setting up your fundraising page. Still need help setting up your page? No worries – send an email to communications@sotx.org.
  2. Make your personal contribution first . . . people are more likely to give when they see that you’ve already made a contribution.
  3. Most Successful Idea: Email your friends, family and business contacts. Include a link to your personal fundraising web page where they can make a secure donation online.
  4. Extra, Extra… Tweet All About It! Posting on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram is a great way to share information about your involvement in #SOTXSTRONG, and to solicit donations. Be sure to include a link to your personal fundraising page.
  5. Matching Funds: Ask your employer about matching funds, and encourage your supporters to do the same.
  6. Follow Up: Always follow up, via phone and/or email. People will appreciate the reminder.
  7. Send Thank Yous: Always send thank you notes or emails to all donors.

Dear [Insert Name]:

Like many fellow Texans, Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) is still feeling Hurricane Harvey’s devastating aftermath. Although their offices along the Texas coast came through the storm undamaged, many of the venues where SOTX had scheduled fundraising events were not so lucky, and they’ve been forced to cancel or indefinitely postpone them.

Special Olympics Texas now faces a shortfall of hundreds of thousands of dollars between now and the end of 2017.

My goal is to raise ($ goal amount) or more in the next (# of days) to help Special Olympics Texas continue to provide quality athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities..

Please give a contribution to Special Olympics Texas on my behalf. You can send a check made payable to Special Olympics Texas directly to me. Please be sure to put SOTXSTRONG and my name in the memo line.

The easiest way to support my goal, is to make a secure on-line donation by going to my personal fundraising page at (Insert personal fundraising page link).

More than ever, Special Olympics Texas athletes – especially the ones in areas affected by this ongoing disaster – are counting on us to be there for them. To ensure that we don’t let our athletes down, we need your help to join the movement to keep our athletes SOTXSTRONG.
