Special Olympics Texas invites you to take part in the Annual Polar Plunge®! Are you brrrrrrave enough? This event is a unique opportunity for individuals, businesses and organizations to support more than 58,000 Special Olympics Texas athletes. All money raised for Polar Plunge will go toward providing year-round sports training and competition, health and inclusion programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities in your community.
Register as an individual or as a team of 3-10 people and start your pledge campaign online with a personal fund raising web page. Anyone can plunge - young and old!
Asking for donations is never easy and it can leave even the most outgoing person with trembling knees. We have provided you with a Fundraising Tool Kit to aid you in your fundraising campaign. Just remember: what is the number one reason that people give? Because you asked! People give to people – not causes – and your passion and enthusiasm for the Polar Plunge, and Special Olympics Texas, are your best assets. Happy fundraising!
Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics (LETR) is the largest grassroots fund raiser for Special Olympics. At its most basic level, the Torch Run is actually a running event in which officers and athletes run the “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of local, state, national and international Games. At its most extensive, LETR encompasses a variety of fundraising vehicles including merchandise sales, donation and pledge collection, and special events. LETR includes police departments, sheriff’s deputies, FBI agents, private prison and TDCJ corrections officers and personnel, district court officers, military, constable’s offices and fire department personnel.
Over the last year or so, there’s been a dangerous trend among younger people: challenges or dares to jump into icy cold water. These events are not sanctioned by any official group and many have resulted in injuries - some serious - to participants. This recent trend is in no way whatsoever associated with the Special Olympics Texas Polar Plunge. Our Polar Plunge events are planned carefully and provide many safety precautions, including divers, lifeguards, medical and emergency personnel on hand, as well as emergency procedures in place to ensure that all participants can enjoy a safe, fun experience. We take the health and safety of our participants seriously; we encourage those participating in these “cold water challenges” to instead display their bravery at an official Special Olympics Texas Polar Plunge, where they can plunge in a safe environment while supporting a good cause.
In case of a weather-related cancellation of the event, your entry fees would be very happily accepted as a tax-deductible donation to Special Olympics Texas.
