In the spirit of the giving season, Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus has been doing various charitable work in the community. On Monday night, he continued spreading joy to others. On this night, he held a holiday dinner for several of Special Olympics Texas' young athletes in Areas 10 and 11 and made a generous contribution of $4500 to the organizations Young Athletes Program (YAP).

YAP is a sports play program designed to introduce children ages two to seven to the world of physical activity.  Children with and without intellectual disabilities participate together, prior to and regardless of Special Olympics eligibility at age eight. The program utilizes physical activities to develop fundamental motor tracking and eye-hand coordination play. Children build these skills by participating in specific activities on a regular basis. The program concentrates on applying the skills learned through these activities in preparation for Special Olympics or traditional sports competitions. Click here for more information.

Thanks, Elvis for all you do to support our athletes all year round!
