For nearly 25 years, Bruce Litton has been dedicated to the sport of Kayaking. Over that time, he has been very involved in the sport as a participant and as an instructor. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that Litton gotten involved in the sport with Special Olympics.

“A friend was a Special Olympics Sailing coach and when he heard they were going to start Kayaking, he asked if I would be interested in coaching,” Litton said. “I'm passionate about Kayaking and thought it might be a good sport for Special Olympics athletes, so I got into it.”

Now, after more than seven years of coaching Special Olympics Texas athletes in his favorite sport, Litton is riding big waves. In two weeks, the Houston native will be heading to Los Angeles to serve as the head coach of Special Olympics USA’s Kayaking team at World Games.

Litton, who also organizes and conducts the SOTX Chapter Kayaking competition is looking forward to seeing his athletes again, since they all haven't seen each other since October at Training Camp.

“This is an opportunity to help others have fun, compete and reach their goals while discovering and enjoying the sport of kayaking and I’m so privileged to be a part of these Games," Litton said.
