Westworth Village Police Officer Jeramey Miller has been chosen to represent Team Texas in the Law Enforcement Torch Run at the 2014 USA Games. Below is his experiencing since arriving in New Jersey.
Today was a fabulous, and emotional day for me. We woke very early 0440 hours to be on the bus for a 0530 trip to New York City. We were greeted at the Bridge by two Port Authority officer's and were provided a escort into the city.
Once we were in the "City" two NYPD Officers provided us escorts all through the city both while we were running and traveling in the bus (which was not very much). We started off the day on the Fox and Friends morning show, then lined up and ran calling cadence to the Toys R Us. Then to breakfast at Ellen's Stardust Dinner where we were sung to by the wait staff. After the wonderful breakfast we boarded the bus and traveled to the a pier not sure of the number where were interviewed by Fox Sports. from there we ran to the World Trade Center.
That was where the emotional part of the day came in. We were privileged to be able to tour the 9/11 memorial museum. That is something I will never forget. There was all kinds of stuff in there. From ID cards to Fire Trucks that were crushed. Very moving!! From there we ran to battery park where we boarded a ship for the Statue Of Liberty. That was memorable also. I took a lot of photos and the Torch Run Photographer took a lot also and will be loaded up on letrphotos.smugmug.com.
