Special Olympics Texas, in partnership with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer and Special Olympics Colorado, will take part in a special soccer event on Saturday, August 9 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
After the FC Dallas match against the Colorado Rapids that night, a unified soccer team from Special Olympics Texas will square off against a unified soccer team from Special Olympics Colorado. The two teams also faced off last season in Denver.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales (Purchase Now) for the game between FC Dallas and the Rapids will go towards supporting future FC Dallas and Special Olympics Texas events. Fans who are interested must purchase tickets by August 7, and those tickets can be picked up at will call at the north box office at Toyota Stadium.
The August event is part of a partnership between Special Olympics and MLS WORKS, Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative. The goal of the partnership between the two groups in to increase awareness of Special Olympics programs and athletes in the soccer community. Several teams around MLS also have partnerships with Unified Sports soccer teams, and many of those teams travel to play other Special Olympics team during the MLS season.
