Heart of Texas (Area 12) Male Athlete of the Year (22+) Michael Englert and Female Athlete of the Year (22+) Rachael Brogden were recognized in front of more than 45,000 people at Baylor University’s brand new McLane Stadium, where the nationally-ranked Bears defeated Northwestern State, 70-6, on Saturday night, Sept. 6.

Englert and Brogden were honored on the field during a break in play, their pictures were displayed on the video board and a brief bio was read describing their involvement with Special Olympics Texas. Both athletes were presented with an autographed football signed by Baylor head coach Art Briles.

Male Athlete of the Year (15-22) Ethan Caldwell (Gatesville, Texas) and Female Athlete of the Year (15-22) Leeann Ellis (Corsicana, Texas) will get the same recognition during a break in action when Baylor hosts TCU on Saturday, Oct. 11.
