Area 17 - South Plains held their annual roller skating competition on May 3rd, and the rink was filled with plenty of fast and furious skaters.  The competition was held at Skate Ranch and has been held there for several years thanks to the generosity of the owner who donates the facility.  The owner also happens to have a grandson who is a roller skating athlete.  33 students from five Lubbock ISD schools competed in 7 different events. There were also four Lady Raiders (Texas Tech) Volleyball players volunteering their time assisting with heating, timing and awards.  Thanks to all that volunteered to make this event possible and a success including Texas Tech University, Mr. Baker (owner of Skate Ranch), Lubbock ISD Teachers and parents.
