President and CEO

Statewide, Chapter Headquarters - Austin

Special Olympics Texas is seeking a dynamic leader for the position of President and CEO. The President and CEO has primary responsibility for the strategic leadership, operational management, fundraising and growth of Special Olympics Texas (SOTX). 

As the CEO, his/her primary function is to guide and direct the Program in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures set forth by Special Olympics, Inc. and the SOTX Board of Directors. The CEO reports directly to the SOTX’s Board of Directors and shall maintain a close working relationship with the Chairperson.

Candidates should have a passion for SOTX’s mission and the vision, skills, expertise and drive to lead the organization to the next level and expand engagement throughout the state to further the inclusion of and opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. The candidate should have a strong track record of proven leadership skills and experience; ability to create and increase revenue; and financial and organizational management experience.

The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The CEO role is an exempt position and is based in Austin, TX. Frequent in state and occasional out of state travel required.
