Gary Schottle, father of SOTX athlete and Global Messenger Derek “Tank” Schottle, was selected as the winner of this week’s Best Shot photo contest for this image submitted for “Best Smile”. As you can imagine, the buzz has been all about that smile! Thanks to Gary and the Arc of Fort Bend County, we have been able to learn more about athlete Chance Geary, who is the featured athlete showing us those pearly whites.
On Thursday, July 21, Texas Roadhouse restaurants across the Lone Star state are participating in Tip A Cop Night, a Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising event for Special Olympics Texas. During the dinner shift (5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at most locations), local officers from all across the state will exchange uniforms for aprons and will serve tables for tips, which all will be donated to SOTX at the end of the dinner shift.

The 2016 FC Dallas/Special Olympics Texas Unified Soccer team opened its season on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Sporting Kansas City/Special Olympics Kansas & Missouri at Children’s Mercy Park. A pair of goals from Doug Sullivan and one from Alyssa D’Aloise led the squad to an impressive victory.
