At two months old, doctors confirmed that Chantesia Steen was deaf. After getting cochlear implants at age 4 and then moving from Mississippi to Texas, Chantesia found her way into Special Olympics when she was 9 years old. Ogonnaya Achinivu, a 12-year-old from Lubbock, TX became involved with SOTX in 2014 through a program at Mackenzie Middle School. She participates in bocce, roller-skating, and her two favorite sports, bowling and basketball.
