On Thursday afternoon, a large representation of H.E.B.'s Diversity Champions gathered at the SOTX Chapter office in Austin. Chad Tywater, a member of the SOTX Board of Directors, co-hosted the meeting with Nichole Valdez.
Meet in the Middle (MiM), the SOTX Project UNIFY program with more than 120 participating schools, received news from the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Board of Directors that is sure to boost its reputation and help the program grow even more. On Monday, TASC officially announced that MiM has been endorsed as a partner/project for academic year 2014-15, the seventh year of Project UNIFY.
A pair of second-half goals by Jacob Hill and Scott McIlhenny lifted the FC Dallas Special Olympics Texas squad to a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Colorado team on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium. Hill broke the scoreless tie in the 32nd minute before McIlhenny registered an insurance tally in the 39th minute. The game was played as part of the partnership between Special Olympics and MLS WORKS, Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative.

A Unified Sports demo highlighted Saturday's events. Participants got hands-on experience with Unified Sports, one of three core components of Project UNIFY.
